The Business Office manages the District's financial and
building operations. The Department's primary functions
include the preparation and management of the District's
annual budget, accounting services, student services such as transportation, insurance, and food, and
building operations and maintenance.
School District 21 has been widely recognized over the years for its efforts in the areas of finance and operations. School District 21 has been awarded: the School Business
Officials International (ASBO) Certificate of Excellence in
Financial Reporting and the Government Finance Officers
Association of the United States and Canada Certificate of
Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
Like all areas of School District 21, oversight is provided by the Board of Education. In the case of the Business Office specifically, the School District 21 Board of Education's Finance Sub-Committee, which meets periodically throughout the year, provides direction for and feedback to the Business Office.
